Bio

Emersen Barnes is a Nova Scotian visual artist working in acrylic painting, ink/digital drawing, and
hand-illustrated poster design. She is currently studying part-time at Sheridan College and is set
to graduate in April 2026 with an Advanced Diploma in Visual and Creative Arts. In school, Barnes
focused on her technical understanding of digital software, such as the Adobe Creative Suite, as well as experimenting with performance art.

A key part of her artistic career has been working with the band Stonebrother since 2020. Her work
here mostly consists of illustrating album covers and promotional posters. The most notable of
these projects was the album ‘New World Inc.’ released in 2025, where a different comic book style
inspired each piece of cover art. Through this collaboration, she has met and worked with a range of musicians and local venues, expanding her creative network and gaining experience in the live music community.

In Spring 2025, Barnes temporarily served on the board of the Burlington Fine Arts Association
as Social Media Manager. She also participated in their monthly themed exhibit at ‘The Hub’ at
the Burlington Centre mall, as well as their ‘Small Works’ Gallery show. Both submitting work and
volunteering her time for setup and take-down.

Currently, Barnes is working to finish her diploma and plans to stay near Toronto and grow her career as an artist.
